Rock/Pop: Rodrigo y Gabriela

When you see Rodrigo and Gabriela (I'll use my superior skills of deduction to assume that the y is Mexican for 'and') furiously strumming at their acoustic guitars, it's not that hard to see that they actually met in a thrash-metal band.

Despite the title, these "unplugged" versions (a misnomer if ever there was one - everything here, including the acoustic guitars, is quite plugged in) of Foo Fighter tunes are anything but stripped down.

At the North Fork Theatre at Westbury Sunday night, "simple" was the watchword. The only instruments on the small, circular stage were a pair of acoustic guitars, the only prop a small table with a vase full of roses. There were no screaming digital video screens, no complex costume or set changes. The only person bent on complicating things - unfortunately - was the performer.
