Alamo Rent A Car is a car rental agency. They are based in Tulsa, Oklahoma, but have branches across the United States, Canada, Mexico, Central America, South America, parts of Africa, Europe, and Australia as well as some locations on various Caribbean islands. The chain was started in 1974 with several locations in the state of Florida. It was liked by many because of its unlimited mileage program, meaning that people could travel any distance with the car they rented for no extra charge. In the United States, Alamo rents mostly General Motors automobiles.
Alamo is owned by Vanguard Car Rental USA Inc., which also owns National Car Rental.

Alamo Rent A Car has been criticized for not providing adequate access to/from terminal buildings to rental car lot for wheelchair-bound customers. Alamo was the subject of several such complaints, culminating in an investigation by the United States Department of Justice. Alamo reached an out of court settlement with the Department of Justice in the matter [1].
Trivia
On June 27, Mohammed Atta, the terrorist responsible for the September 11th 2001 terrorist attacks flew from Fort Lauderdale to Boston, Massachusetts, where he spent a day, and then continued on to San Francisco for a short time, and from there to Las Vegas. On June 28, Atta arrived at McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas to meet with the three other pilots. He rented a Chevrolet Malibu from an Alamo Rent A Car agency.
